Julia Adam's Dew Point Takes New Flight

Here are Travis Bradley and Julie Niekrasz rehearsing for Julia Adam's Dewpoint, part of Taking Flight, as Rachel Shumake does barre work in the background. Julia Adam has returned to Memphis to restage this innovative and beautiful work about water, which explores imagery of swimming, diving, flooding, skating, dragging, and whirlpools. Props such as a large sail and a divining rod are used. Music includes "La Vie En Rose", Natalie Merchant, and Jeff Buckley's rendition of "Hallelujah".

Julia Adam's choreography opens up a new way of seeing dance, new ways of making a ballet that didn't seem possible before. Take in Dewpoint and other engaging works at Taking Flight May 11.
