The company are at work putting finishing touches on The Wizard of Oz. The dancers head to the Orpheum Wednesday night where the theater will add its magic to the performance.
Here, Dorothy and the Scarecrow meet the Tin Man for the first time. There are tons of magical and funny moments, great characters and nuanced movement in Oz. The ballet will feature children from the community centers Ballet Memphis partners with in the Emerald City scene.
Lighting designer Andrew Meyers is getting ready to set up lights for the Emerald City. Here is part of the lighting, a piece which goes inside a light. Another designer figured out that these parts of a light could be used to create a great effect. Each little piece of glass is like its own lens.
