I asked some of the dancers what ballet websites they
look at online. The main site they mentioned is Balletoman, which
features full-length videos and clips of ballets going back to the 1960s from all over the world. They also said
YouTube is a good resource; you just have to know what you are looking for, for
example a certain dancer’s work. Stephanie Mei Hom said that
she will check out the websites of other companies, for example Hubbard Street
Dance Chicago or Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, which have videos on their sites. Crystal
Brothers said she will sometime search for videos for a certain role she is
performing, like the Sugar Plum Fairy, or videos relating to something she is teaching.
Below, the company watches footage of The Wizard of Oz during rehearsal. Just like other athletes, they study their film.
