Back to work, and on to New York & APAP

Our first week at work after the holidays has been a busy one! Half of the company is rehearsing and performing choreography by Rafael Ferreras with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra (as part of MSO’s wonderful First Tennessee Masterworks series), and the other half will be traveling to New York to perform Julia Adam’s Dew Point at APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters). We will be performing twice while we are there. I personally have never been to APAP, so I’m excited to see what it’s all about.

I love traveling with the dancers. We toured quite a bit last year, but this will be our first trip out of town this season. It must be quite a sight to see our spontaneous photo shoots in the airport or the way we stretch and roll out our muscles after being cooped up on an airplane for a few hours. I'm sure we look a little different than your typical group of travelers.

New York is always an exciting place to visit, and even more so when we get to perform there. It will be a quick trip, but I’m sure we’ll fit in a little shopping in between performances. And we always manage to find really great places to eat no matter where we are on tour; our problem will be narrowing down the decision. We are open to suggestions if you have a favorite place!
