ALBERTO GASPAR is in his third season with Ballet Memphis. With Ballet Memphis, he has danced in Petr Zahradníček’s The Hurdle Runner and Night & Day in FedEx City, in Steven McMahon’s Peter Pan, in Matthew Neenan’s Water of the Flowery Mill, and in Reggie Wilson’s I Am A Man, among others. He began studying ballet at the age of 16 at La Escuela Nacional de Danza Clasica, the most prestigious government-sponsored ballet school in Mexico. Three years later, he was chosen by Founding Artistic Director Edward Villela to continue his training and later, dance professionally at the Miami City Ballet. Alberto was a trainee at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, where he performed in the Nutcracker, The Great Gatsby and Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Romeo and Juliet. While with the Saint Louis Ballet, Alberto danced principal roles in the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, and in works by Christopher d’Amboise, Pam Tanowitz, Michael Uthoff, and Saint Louis Ballet’s Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi. He has participated in the Boston International Ballet Competition and has performed in Japan while dancing for Gen Horiuchi USA. He also has performed works by Darrell Grand Moultrie for Barak Ballet. Alberto is from Mexico City.
